Fountain of the Sun God

The legend of the Sun God Helios tells that he was a handsome god with powerful strength, wearing the crown of the Sun on his head. On a chariot pulled by four steeds, Helios majestically and solemnly carried out his mission to pull the sun from East to West to bring light to humanity. The Sun God Helios is a symbol of a great civilization.

The Sun God at Sunset Town is inherited from the original work Apollo Belvedere. This work dates from the mid-2nd century AD and is considered a Roman copy of an original bronze statue created by the Greek sculptor Leochares between 330 and 320 BC. The work is currently in the collection of the Vatican Museums in Rome, Italy.

The Fountain of the Sun God is handcrafted from solid white Carrara marble blocks sourced from quarries in the Tuscan region on the Apuan Alps mountain range, where thousands of years ago the Romans mined and sculpted other famous works of art from the pre-Christian era. The legendary sculptor Michelangelo also chose stones from these quarries, to later sculpt works of art. All manufacturing stages were meticulously handcrafted over two years using traditional marble sculpting techniques from the Roman
era.

The author of the Sun God Fountain is Frilli Gallery – a famous family company founded in 1860 by sculptor Antonio Frilli in Florence. For over 150 years, Frilli Gallery has created and produced many bronze and marble sculptures in both classical and modern styles.
